Good but some bugs

This is a good app. But since i have updated to the iOS 8, there is a bug. I cant lunch the play button. Hope that the developers will fix that soon. I still love this app

Good and fun to play with!

Its a great app if you want to make a professional looking score but, dealing with the alternate tuplets and trying to get them on the right notes is a challenge. Still a great app though!

Inconsistent

Nice concept...way too many glitches! After over a year of use still has trouble recognizing my hand writing. How is it possible?!

Nice !

The new version. Thank you for quickly update. ---------- I tried it few hours. And I think this App is very good idea. But some problems , because I cant use change time to 6/4 , I cantt chose it. And I cant add a grace note. So now I feel this App is too expensive.

play back the score...

Crash on iPad 2

Crash, crash again, crash again, crash again, crash again, crash again, crash again, crash again. Wasted money.

Best notation app I have used so far, but far from perfect.

This is exactly what I was looking for, as someone who learned to read music and play the violin, this is perfect for anyone who knows notation and basic composition to interact with their iPad like it is digital, playable staff paper which can be exported to MIDI and then opened in Logic Pro (or any DAW of your choosing) to use synths and other audio plugins (which is ideal since I cant play piano) or exported directly to PDF as sheet music. My one gripe is that, while the user interface is designed for styluss, it doesnt yet integrate any 3rd party Bluetooth stylus APIs; meaning that hand recognition / palm rejection is nonexistent and accuracy varies wildly using either of my 2 Bluetooth stylus (I have a Adobe Ink and the Adonit Jot Script.) As I dont own a iPad Pro (I own a iPad Air 2) Im not sure how the Apple "Pencil" performs, but based on my experience using other bluetooth stylus enabled apps on my iPad Air 2, like Adobe CS6 and Noteshelf, integrating those APIs would dramatically reduce the number of accidental marks, quickly increase accuracy, and add pressure sensitivity (which in this case isnt all that useful) for users with Bluetooth stylus and non Pro iPads. Despite these flaws, it is still the best software I have used for people who prefer to compose using paper, but with features that integrate well with the digital world of DAWs and audio production. Just know that: 1. there is a pretty steep learning curve to get it to input exactly what notes you want and to arrange them as you see fit 2. rubber stylus work best for non iPad Pro Users (for now) and 3. inputting notes can be tedious until you learn the flow of the software and how to avoid accidentally touching the display with your hands (which for me was the biggest source of frustration I experienced using Notate Me.) Hopefully these issues can, and will, be addressed in the future, but as for right now I could only give this 4 stars because of its erratic input behavior and lack of palm rejection; by no means are these flaws "deal breakers" but they require patience, learning and practice to overcome.

The Potential is There But Misses the Mark

Great idea and a very much needed app. The bugginess is a serious detractor. Every time I close the app and go back later to work on a score I find that notes have shifted, rests inserted and other strange anomalies have occurred. Have to do a lot of rework. Also need a way to save versions so that when the aforementioned bugs occur the user can restore from a previously saved version. Also need the the ability to quickly transpose the entire score, especially when making lead sheets. I am really looking forward to this app being fixed and enhanced.

Very Cool!

Im a composition major and I downloaded this app pretty recently and Im quite impressed with it. Once it learns your writing style then its a lot easier to work with (and also a stylus makes it way better). Its not a perfect notation software or anything but its perfect for sketches and quickly turning those sketches into neat scores (the Midi also i not bad at all). One feature that I havent been able to do is copy and paste multiple measures to a different part or wherever. I would love to see that. Overall a great app. Thank you!

It cant learn fast enough for me

I just spent more than 20 minutes trying to enter an F sharp whole note in this app. (The one immediately under the bass clef.) I am giving up and grabbing some staff paper. My whole note notation has been pretty consistent but it is obviously not going to learn this.

Frustratingly powerful

Extremely powerful AND frustrating. Your standard stylus wont do you any good so they recommend your finger (nail) or a certain $60 stylus. Plus factor in the hours you have to play with it to have it learn your style - if it even does - dont get me wrong I think this is an awesome app. Its just extremely frustrating to get to the point where it can even be of any use. It has a mind of its own until that point: notes appear in odd places, rests, etc., and on the iPhone screen as small as it is? No way. iPad yes and Im staying with it because future versions are supposed to employ their sound to notation technology. Im rooting for it.

Great idea that is still being birthed

This is a great program potentially. It has huge shortcomings as far as layering voices goes. At this point it is an extremely frustrating way to get notes on a page.
